Congratulations to the Penang State Government on the launching of its innovative online platform — DahDerma.my on 8-07-2022!
The online platform allows NGOs to run fundraising campaigns. It also provides NGOs and GLCs with a platform to recruit volunteers online. At the same time, members of the public can donate to fundraising campaigns and participate in volunteer programmes.
According to the report, currently, the platform is running four active fundraising campaigns by Penang Care Society and Tzu-Chi Malaysia. Penang Care Society aims to raise RM50,000 to fund filter replacements for oxygen concentrators to support home-quarantined underprivileged COVID-19 patients who require ventilators and RM100,000 toward mental health awareness and education for the recruitment of counsellors and psychiatrists to conduct training and workshops. Tzu-Chi Malaysia of the Penang Chapter is raising RM175,000 for its Xi Wang Education campaign to provide education for needy students and RM500,000 to provide free dialysis treatments for poor patients at its Tzu-Chi Dialysis Centres.
Members of the public can register and sign up to donate towards fundraising campaigns and volunteer in social programmes by participating GLCs and NGOs now at www.dahderma.my.
We, Veon Szu & Kok Thye (George Town), are extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to work together with team Digital Penang in reviewing the FQA, PDPA Notice, and terms of use of this one of its kind social engagement online platform. Our partner, Veon Szu Khaw and trainee solicitor, Jin Yee Lim collaborated with team Digital Penang on this project.
