MR. KHAW VEON SZU

He earned his LL.B (Hons) from the prestigious University of Malaya in 1996 and was subsequently admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1997. In addition to his legal practice, Khaw is also a registered trademark agent, further enhancing his proficiency in intellectual property protection and demonstrating his commitment to assisting clients in securing their innovative assets.
Over the past year, Khaw has delivered more than ten educational programs, focusing on essential areas such as Intellectual Property Law, Strata Management, Franchise Law, Estate Planning, and Employment Laws. MS. YEOP MING MING
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Ms. Yeop Ming Ming is a dedicated legal professional who graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of London in 2018, followed by her Certificate of Legal Practice in 2019. Her legal journey began in law school with an attachment program at a Penang-based law firm, providing her with practical insights into the legal field and solidifying her career interest.
In 2020, Ming Ming joined Zaid Ibrahim & Co. (Penang) as a Trainee Associate, where she honed her skills, particularly in litigation and legal research. Her pupillage exposed her to various legal disciplines, providing a robust foundation in both contentious and non-contentious matters. After completing her pupillage, she joined Messrs. Veon Szu & Kok Thye as a Legal Associate, becoming a vital member of the litigation team.
Ming Ming’s expertise spans a broad spectrum of practice areas. She actively handles Civil and Commercial litigation, representing clients in disputes involving contracts, agreements, and personal claims. Additionally, she focuses on Intellectual Property (IP) litigation, assisting clients in protecting and enforcing their rights.
Her practice extends to Strata Management Law, advising clients on property management and ownership disputes. Ming Ming also participates in Judicial Review proceedings, ensuring that the rule of law is upheld, and handles Debt Recovery and enforcement proceedings, protecting clients’ financial interests. Her dedication and methodical approach make her an invaluable asset to the firm.
MS. ANIS TASNIM
LEGAL ASSOCIATE
Ms. Anis Tasnim graduated with an LL.B (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi MARA in September 2021. Throughout her academic journey, she actively sought practical experience by interning at various law firms during her semester breaks. These internships provided her with exposure to a diverse range of legal practices, enhancing her understanding of the field.
In her final year, Anis completed an internship under Ms. Chong Yet Loon, a partner at our Butterworth Office, which further solidified her legal knowledge and skills. After successfully completing her chambering, Anis was admitted to the Bar in November 2022 and subsequently retained by our firm as a Legal Associate.
In her role at Messrs. Veon Szu & Kok Thye, Anis specializes in Intellectual Property, focusing on trademark and copyright matters. She also oversees probate and estate administration, ensuring the smooth management of estates. Additionally, Anis is involved in matters related to Consumer and Society Law, where she advocates for clients’ rights and compliance with legal standards. Her commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and her passion for her practice areas make her a valuable asset to the firm.
MS. LIM JIN YEE
LEGAL ASSOCIATE
Ms. Lim Jin Yee completed her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of London in 2019 and her Certificate of Legal Practice in 2021. During her first year of study in 2016, she gained practical experience as an attachment student at Ghazi & Lim Advocates, a law firm in Penang, where she focused on conveyancing matters. While pursuing her law degree, she also interned at S.T. Ooi & Associates, where she handled accounting and auditing tasks, further diversifying her legal exposure.
In addition to her experience in conveyancing, Jin Yee has been involved in taxation matters, enhancing her understanding of various commercial legal practices. This diverse background has fueled her desire to deepen her knowledge and effectively address complex legal issues.
After her admission to the Bar in March 2023, Jin Yee was retained by Messrs. Veon Szu & Kok Thye as a Legal Associate. In her role, she has been entrusted with supervising the firm’s Startup, Corporate, and Tax practice, along with Conveyancing matters and Employment and Workplace Law. Her dedication and expertise make her a valuable asset to the firm as she strives to deliver effective legal solutions tailored to her clients’ needs.
MS. YEOH KE QIN
PUPIL-IN-CHAMBERS
Ms. Yeoh Ke Qin completed her Bachelor of Laws at Universiti Malaya (UM), graduating with Honours (With Distinction) in July 2023. During her third year of law school, she gained valuable practical experience through an internship at a Penang-based law firm. As she approached the final chapter of her university journey, Ke Qin actively participated in the Legal Aid Clinic UM, where she worked on a diverse array of cases, particularly focusing on commercial and contract law.
In November 2023, Ke Qin joined Messrs. Veon Szu & Kok Thye (George Town) as a Pupil-in-Chambers, eager to learn from the esteemed Mr. Khaw Veon Szu. With a strong desire to deepen her legal knowledge, she is enthusiastic about exploring various legal practice areas during her dynamic nine-month chambering period. Her commitment to learning and her curiosity about the law position her as a promising addition to the firm, ready to tackle the challenges of the legal profession while contributing to the success of her clients.
